Radio frequency ablation -SI joint

Posted by meesh @meesh, Dec 25, 2022

Please if anyone had the SI joint block injection test with success and then had Radio frequency ablation for SI joint, I would love to hear from you. SI joint block injection test indicated I would be good candidate for radio frequency ablation (RFA). Schedule early Jan. Thank you!!!!

Yes I had a radio frequency ablation of my SI joint on the right side about six years ago. It went very well I did have some kind of tingling and burning in that fight it was mild for about a month and then it went away. I’m having a science sections on the 19th and will probably do the same thing on the left.
Good luck and keep us posted on how you do! Happy New Year.

I'm confused as to what “science section” is?

@meesh I had a rfa in my neck about a year ago. I had a few weeks of relief. My husband had one at same time and had longer relief. In 2021 I had a fusion of my SI joint. That has helped. I have had two previous surgeries in my L-S joint. The first was in 1993 .. a laminectomy. In 2008 my disc was totally gone. .. so had an implant and hardware placed.

Now I am dealing with more back pain. This time it is believed to be the disc (l-4) above the surgery area. MRI shows no herniation. I don't have the report near me and cannot remember what is happening at that spot. I need to look it up. My memory is getting bad. Especially with not much sleep from pain to deal with. Monday I am trying a steroid injection. Hopefully that will calm this pain. Could be I have had something change since the MRI a year ago. Dr won't order another one yet. I am going to PT and using moist heat and a TENS unit at home.

I took care of my mom for a couple of years .. she had debilitating strokes .. and know how it is to bathe someone when you have back problems. I helped her take care of my Down Syndrome aunt for a few years too. Hard on the body.
You might want to look into getting someone to come in a few times a week to bathe your daughter. I got to where I only sponge bathed mom every other day and my husband had to helped get her in the shower every few weeks.

I will keep you in my prayers that you will make the correct decision for you.

I apologize for that, I saw it after it was printed and should have written back , going through a lot here with my pain and another cancer diagnosis for my husband. It was steroid injection. I too am having L3-4 pain like you and I know how debilitating it can be. I am getting injections in my L5 and Si as well as facet joint injections on the 19th…..mine like you in about a previous fusion, the 3-4 Pain.

Good luck to you…

I am usually good at figuring out puzzles, but that one I just could not figure out what it was suppose to be. My pain so bad this morning that I was nauseous. The doctor isn't exactly sure which area is my problem .. I have residual numbness in my from first herniation of SI joint and from morton neuroma foot surgery. So he is hopi g he made the correct guess and so am I. My husband is dealing with health issues too. Hard when both of you are down.

Best wishes for you and your husband.

I can understand that, who could understand that ! Lol. That must be so disturbing to be in that kind of pain and not be able to differentiate what it causing it. Hoping it is rectified soon. Best to you and your husband as well.
