Question about MOGAD and Rituxin infusion.

Tomorrow, the 20th of Oct., I am having my first rituxin infusion. I read all the awful possibilities of aftereffects and also spoke to the staff, who said, "Oh, don't worry, you will just be tired for a couple of days," even read some earlier responses from this site. Tomorrow's the day, your experiences please.

I have taken rituxan infusions for over a year now A total of 16 times in 3 cycles. I have had no issues other than being tired for a couple of days each time other than after the first infusion when I developed a blood clot in my leg. I had to take blood thinner for about 6 months. No further issues and not even sure that was from the rituxan. Best of luck to you.

I too have had Rituxan 3 times and had the fatigue for a couple of days afterward. I also had low blood sugar reactions at the end of infusions which I was prone to otherwise. I think that is unusual but I would recommend you take plenty to eat during infusions to prevent that. You didn’t mention why you were getting it, but it’s a good drug for many things, especially autoimmune diseases that are refractory to milder treatments. Good luck and take plenty to do while infusing to keep your mind occupied and anxiety level down.

@teach3foruyahoocom I’m so sorry that you’ve gotten this autoimmune disease. I, too, have an autoimmune disease and got several doses of rituxan, but it stopped working for me. When getting the infusion I experience an infusion reaction which was kinda scary but once the infusion was slowed down, it never happened again. While it was working, I was a little tired . But I also called it my ‘miracle drug’ because I felt so good after getting it.
I’m also sorry that your question wasn’t answered before you went for your infusion! @ldhamh and @slkanowitz gave you some great answers.
How was your infusion today?

Sounds positive, how in the world do you know if you get a blood clot though? I can only pray that it works for me! Thank you for responding.

Thank you! Making a PB&J sandwich soon to take with me. I was diagnosed with MOGAD in Sept. of this year. Currently on high dosage of Prednisone. Not fun! Had to fight with my health insurance company for a month. But I am feeling positive!

I had swelling in one leg around my ankle and lower leg. It was after hours so I went to the ER and they did a scan. Like I said no way to know if it was the rituxan or something else.

Thank you to all that responded with a hug or message. This was a good lesson for me. Everyone I got message from here mentioned tiredness, a few with other smaller problems, yet online, the news was dismal. I know you aren't supposed to go with that but when there are so many unknowns? Thank you so much for those that made it simple. It was exactly that. The only thing the nurse said to me, was she wondered if because I was already on Prednisone (80 mg.) a day, if that wouldn't help? Either way, it was uneventful. Perhaps a tiny tired but nothing major. I have got to get on a zoom meeting soon with others with MOGAD! It would benefit me I am sure. I have saved a couple of emails with dates and times.
