Is there a PTSD group? I have nightmares very night all night long. I woke up and am terrified. Then I do not have energy through the day because my sleep is so terrifying.

I have discussed this with social worker, doctor, mental health nurse partitioner many times. I was given a high blood pressure pill prescription for the nightmares which made the nightmares worse. I am amazed that only 10 % of trauma get symptoms. This disorder must be the most undiagnosed, ignored by health professionals that I have experienced.

Hi, I have PTSD nightmares too and use 1 mg of Prazosin before going to bed. Prazosin is also called minipress. But it’s important that if I wake up in the night, I have to take another dose before going back to sleep. Otherwise I will have nightmares in the morning. Another issue I found is that if watch movies etc that have morbid or frightening themes right before bedtime, I will often have nightmares from those too. I found an interesting article that you might be interested in. It’s at this link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3896131/
It’s titled High dose Prazosin for the treatment of post traumatic stress disorder. New evidence is showing that doses as high as 16 mg are now being prescribed and there are no significant issues with side effects. I hope this helps. These nightmares are so terribly terrifying and impact my life significantly too.

Hi,
My dreams are not pleasant, but my terrors happen awake.

The reason I'm replying is I often fall asleep listening to things: music or talk radio or audiobooks on YouTube. The books, especially, sometimes spill into my dreams. I just thought I'd mention it.

When it comes to classical music, or some other styles, there are long albums and playlists that can last 8 or more hours. As can audiobooks.
