Pulsatile Tinnitis Help I'm scared!
I've had pulsatile tinnitis in my right ear since December. It actually prompted an ER visit because I was afraid I was having a stroke. I was admitted, worked up with a head ct, MRA of the head/neck and bother were normal. But the whooshing noises in my right ear continue. It's worse when it's quiet or I'm wearing headphones. It's starting to freak me out. I have health anxiety as it is, and now when I have a headache I automatically think I must have an aneurysm or something. I see an ENT doctor tomorrow, but I am still scared of going to sleep and not waking up. Does anyone else have this condition?

Sorry you are having a major freak-out. It will help to see an ENT doctor and also, since you had MRI's and they were normal, you can take a deep breath. I understand about "health anxiety," I try to keep it to myself when it's bad but since I live with chronic disabling illness I have to normalize or my life is going by without me finding any happiness and joy.
I did have pulsatile tinnitus. I had an ultrasound of my carotid arteries. It was normal. Eventually it just went away. I have a history of head and neck radiation for cancer. I figure this was just a part of that.
Maybe the ENT will suggest a hearing test. That is what helped me the most. I needed hearing aids. It helped all kinds of tinnitus go away.
I hope you check in here after you see the doctor. Thinking of you!
Babyblues, my husband has tinnitus and just got new hearing aids and he said they have made it worse. His appointment for follow up at VA is not until October!
Good luck with everything

A recently developed therapy for tinnitus has received positive feedback. You should look for a nearby physician who has had training in treating Lenire tinnitus. New Lenire Clinics are opening up all throughout the country. I've had tinnitus for years, and I had signed up to get an email when the Lenire treatment for it arrives in the United States. About a year and a half after I was diagnosed with cancer, a clinic had opened near my home. I held delayed getting therapy for my tinnitus since I was told I had peritoneal cancer, but the new treatment has such positive ratings that I will have it if I survive this cancer.
