Pulmonary Embolism after Covid

Posted by scraik @scraik, 3 days ago

I flew to the East Coast from San Francisco in September. Diagnosed with Covid less than one week later. As a chronic walker (2-4 miles/day) I continued my routine after recovery from the Covid that was mostly asymptomatic. However I started noticing a shortness of breath on exertion, talked to my primary care doc who ordered a CT exam. Diagnosed with multiple emboli throughout my lungs. I don't remember ever having a DVT in my legs or anywhere else. I am now on Eliquis for a year to thin my blood. Have no idea if I had a large blood clot or not.

Hi..good afternoon..I read your post ...how are you doing...I have had covid three times that I know I tested positive for ..the last one in september and again having Long Covid syndrome. I have a physical job and get very short of breath when I work or climb stairs, or when talking. I was in the ER last week, blood pressure has never been so high ..scary readings and fatigue that wipes me out. I cannot get anyone to believe me. I have left sided chest pain . They act like I am making this up. How did you convince them something was not right. On paper I look good. I would love to hear from you. Thank you..and prayers are with you for your return to good health.

When I started getting shortness of breath, I went to my Primary Care Doc and she ordered a CT Angiogram with contrast. That is what showed the embolisms in my lungs so I went directly to the ER. My blood pressure was low and my heart rate was high. I went to a Pulmonologist afterward who said they should have done a Doppler scan on my legs to look for a DVT. I am feeling better now but have been put on Eliquis for one year when we will do the CT again to see if the clots have dissolved. Good luck
