PSC and PPARs
Peroxisome proliferator–activated receptor antagonists or PPARs have been shown to lower liver enzyme and bilirubin lab values in Primary Biliary Cholangitis or PBC. Some small studies show promise for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis or PSC. Is anyone aware of clinical trials coming up for PPARs and PSC?

I am just speculating, but just lowering lab values may not mean that PSC is being put in remission. My lab values have gone down over the past few years, but I still have PSC. I was diagnosed with small duct PSC about 25 years ago through a biopsy and lab values that were off the chart. Like I said now my lab values are back in the normal range. My GI did not have any real reason why this occurred, but he said that I still have PSC.

1 Reaction@suerte You’re right. Lab enzymes in the normal range don’t mean you’re cured. It is hopeful though. Some of the results with PPARs has been pretty dramatic.
