PSA Test: Pain in the Area of Blood Draw (weeks after)
Five weeks after my first PSA test (post-SBRT), I still feel a little pain for several seconds a few times a day, in the area of the blood draw. AI and other sites in the net, say that if the pain i is getting worse, get professional help. Mine isn't getting worse, no bruise mark, no swelling -- just that occasional intermittent pain, not alarming I will say. Has any one had a similar experience, and what did you do about it?

I’ve been getting PSA test once a month for eight years. Never felt any pain of any sort after getting the blood draw. Even during the draw, the pain was absolutely minimal, Many times none at all.
Something weird about having Pain from that, Definitely ask your doctors.
vircet, sometime the phlebotomist hits a nerve. If that is what happened, it will heal. It isn't a matter of skill; they can't see the nerves. I understand your concern, though. I've had it happen a few times. The last time the phlebotomist moved the needle when she changed vials. She blamed me and I generously took the blame and the painful twinges. They'll go away.
Only when they wiggle the needle because they missed the first time. Usually results in noticeable bruising and usually only hurts for a week or so.
I’ve had this happen occasionally since I’ve been getting blood test monthly for eight years. Even when they wiggle the needle around, I felt nothing Once they pulled out the needle. I really can’t remember bruising even once, Unless they’ve left the needle in for a long time after going to the emergency room.
Some people just must be more sensitive to pain.
Wow that's alot of PSA anxiety to deal with Jeff.
That’s just it, After 15 years of prostate cancer and eight years of monthly blood test, I haven’t had anxiety about the test results for at least four or five years. I wait for them to arrive, but I just have no anxiety. I’ve been on Nubeqa For two years and undetectable for the last 20 months, Not a lot of anxiety there.
I was on Zytiga For 2 1/2 years before I switched to Nubeqa 2 years ago. While I was on Zytiga, my PSA would jump up and down between .1 and .7, I was only undetectable for one month while on it. I still didn’t get anxiety about it. I had this for so long the anxiety has worn itself out.
Hope you don't mind me asking you questions now and then...
Hi, I had that test where they took like 10 snippets is what they called it up there at Ohio State, and whereas they said that it wasn’t painful I’d have to totally disagree with that. I thought it hurt a good bit and blood in my poop for a time. I can’t recall for how long but I remember an uncomfortable period of time and it was not painless by a long shot. So you’re probably okay cause it takes longer than “they” said by a good bit. They tried to tell me that it didn’t hurt right after they did it. I, begged to differ! I think anyone who tells you different is lying and apparently has never had it done to them. Chebo1954
I had two different biopsies and never had any pain from either one of them. Some people do as you mention, some people have said it was quite severe. Results may vary.
That’s the whole purpose of this forum. I don’t always know the answer, but if I do, I will reply if I don’t others almost always reply.
