@billbo: I have Neuroendocrine cancer primary tumor small intestine (duodenum junction) that metastasized to liver. When MRI revealed 40% progression of tumors, I needed to make decision on adding additional treatment to the 28 day Lanreotide injections.
I received 2nd Opinion consultation with NET Medical Oncologist at City of Hope who is specialist with GI NETS. He suggested further testing and consult with NET surgeon. After much discussion on treatment options, we committed to Lutathera PRRT (Beta) treatment of 4 infusions over 6 months (June-Dec 2024). I had few effects from the treatment, received excellent care in the Nuclear Medicine Radiology department at CoHope that resulted in significant tumor shrinkage of NET tumors (several smaller tumors can no longer be seen on scans) and stability.
I chose 3mo. follow-up MRIs since treatment conclusion, and am happy to report that my tumors have remained stable, with even further shrinkage in some tumors.
This June 2026 will be 2 years since my decision to begin PRRT treatment and have regained most of my pre-diagnosis “self”. I am very grateful to CoHope, NET Oncologist and the availability of PRRT Lutathera they provided. I hope my experience offers help in making your decision. Best health to you…. dbamos1945

9 ReactionsMy experience is pretty much the same as dbamos1945 Significant shrinkage of larger tumors, and the smaller ones could not be seen. Side effects just a little more tired than usual.. May 6th will be my 1 year check up.
