Prostratectomy
I am having prostatectomy surgery soon and am worried about incontinence and trying to find the right underwear. I also don't like wearing underwear and don't know what to do when I have a catheter in for 10 days. Do I or will I have to wear them? What are good boxer/briefs to buy to stop leaks?

Costco men's boxer briefs are a great value and worked well for me with pads post-op (I am not a member and paid the small upcharge).
Best wishes.
@peterj116 I couldn’t agree more. I did Kegels religiously before and after my surgery and had ZERO incontinence issues. My surgeon told me I was one of the lucky 10%. Best wishes.
Hi,
Tighty whities and a heavy duty pad right after your cath comes out or full mens diapers until your leaking slows down. Most pad makers like Depends recommend tighty whities. Hopefully months down the line you can switch to thinner pads. You could try boxers with your cath in and see if you can keep yourself dry. Like others have said I used sweat pants when my cath was in, regular pants with pad after the cath was removed.

I did the same, never used the leg bag. For me the plastic mop bucket worked good. I just carried it around and sat it on the floor since it needed to be lower whether sitting on sofa watching TV or the dining room table eating. I did wear my boxers while the catheter was in as they seemed the best, nice and loose and changing them was easy as it was easy to slip the catheter bag through the leg openings.

1 ReactionWhen I had my catheter in I wore basketball shorts until it was removed then I wore depends for 3 months until I could control my urine it’s an uphill battle sometimes I still leak and it’s been 10 months since surgery but Amazon sell boxers briefs with the padding in them they are pricey
I wore like an adult type diaper for about a year. Then I switched to just a little male pad that sticks to the inside of your boxers. One for the morning, one for the night. It’s going onthree years later for me and I’m still dripping and leaking a little bit when I lift things that are heavy. Good luck to you.
@djkurr at your age I wouldn’t recommend that you get a second and even third opinion. I would go to a top flight medical team for sure. I would put that off as long as possible with them watching it. I was about 10 years older than you when prostate cancer entered my life. Nothing has ever been 100% OK after that.
