My test results from biopsy is cancer, with a gleason score of 7 (3+4).. Now deciding what i want to do.
My doctor said i can go on active surveillance, radiation, or surgery. Going back in 3 weeks, for they took my biopsy, and going to see if i carry the gene, or tell if it could give info on if its aggressive. I forgot what test he said it was called, for i was still dazed by the ( I have cancer). Its in the early stage, and gave me some material to read on different methods of treating early stage cancer. My doctor said its totally my choice, and wasnt trying to sell me to have surgery, so thats a plus. He really has good bed side manners. Lots to think about!!!!

@mpersonne
The fact that they offered you active surveillance, means that your case does not appear aggressive at all.

The Gleason 3+4 probably had very low percentage of four in it.

Here’s videos by two doctors Who discussed who is a good candidate for active surveillance.

Here is a video with Dr. Laurence Klotz, one of the experts on active surveillance. He can give you answers as to why you would or would not be a good candidate for active surveillance.

Here is a video by Dr. Epstein discussing active surveillance and more

@mpersonne Of all the possible Gleason outcomes —> 6(3+3), 7(3+4), 7(4+3), 8(4+4), 8(3+5), 8(5+3), 9(4+5), 9(5+4), or 10(5+5) - your Gleason 7(3+4) is the second lowest.

You have many options depending on the results of a number of different tests and calculations you’ll be doing next.

Relax, take a breath, get those additional test results, and then make a decision that’s best for you.
