Problem with the placement of the Osia Implant

Problem with the placement of the Cochlear Osia per the Cochlear Surgical Guide where the horizontal middle of the Actuator is aligned with the ear canal.
My doctor told me and I quote “Your Osia placement was performed in the usual customary way. The initial recommendation from Cochlear Corporation on the placement of implant has not worked out well for most patients. Therefore, I have used a modified version for all patients, which is the standard of care at this time”.

This is an interesting quote from your surgeon. Where was your surgery done?

To say, right now I have irons in the fire. When I can I will provide detail information.

What I was looking for, if anyone else was told "The initial recommendation from Cochlear Corporation on the placement of implant has not worked out well most patients".

If the modified version is the implant is placed at the top of the ear putting the sound processor almost at the top of my head. As you know the further from alignment with the ear canal there is a reduction in the quality of sound. With the location of my implant I find the Osia quality of sound has a slight improvement over my hearing aid.

I'm in contact with Cochlear asking if they have anything on file.
