Preview peripheral neuropathy dealing with open wound for 2 1/2 years
I have idiopathic peripheral neuropathy for the last seven years. I’ve been dealing with an open wound on my right big toe for 2 1/2 years. It will not heal does anybody have any suggestions for me?

I have been dealing with a wound on my right foot, on bottom of my foot, for over 10 mos now.
I see my podiatrist frequently, and he has put pads on my sneaker to keep the pressure off when I walk.
Seems it oozes when I walk on it,so I wear padded bandages, and I found on Facebook, myuka honey ointment, which supposedly helps in healing.
My wound has greatly improved and is oozing very little now, since I started using the honey.
I’m assuming because of my CIDP, it interferes with healing process.

Good luck!

3 ReactionsI have have an open wound on my foot that’s not healing. Out of all the doctors my pain management doctor sent me to a vein specialist and that’s what is causing mine not to heal. The blood is pooling in my legs and I wear compression hose. So now I am looking at getting my legs fixed.
I brought it up to my pain management doctor because I was frustrated it is not healing and my legs turn purple if I stand very long without my compression hose.

5 ReactionsHello @bart57, I would like to add my welcome along with @harley22, @katanaguy and others. @burrkay started a similar discussion on a wound that wouldn't heal that you might find helpful:
--- Wound won’t heal - due to neuropathy?: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/wound-wont-heal-due-to-neuropathy/
Mayo Clinic does have some information that you might want to look into - Vascular Ulcer and Wound Healing Clinic: https://www.mayoclinic.org/departments-centers/vascular-ulcer-and-wound-healing-clinic/overview/ovc-20459419
Have you thought about seeking help at a teaching hospital or a major health facility like Mayo Clinic?

2 ReactionsTry the Scrambler treatment. It worked for me!
@bart57 have you had your circulation checked in that leg/foot? If you have diminished circulation to the offending wound due to poor circulation you need a vascular surgeon. Are you a diabetic as this causes blood vessel damage leading to poor circulation in distal blood vessels? Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can aid in healing where poor circulation is an issue. A wound care center can offer you the best bang for your buck as they are one stop shops when it comes to wound care healing.

3 ReactionsYes, i have had veins surgery but again i get a little closer on healing the wound.
Then it opened up again and my neurologist and wound doctor says this will be an ongoing thing probably the rest of my life.
I have been in a special boot non-load bearing for my big toe for two years. My nurse changes the bandage puts collagen and silver in the wound every three days.this is so hard. Im very active, i don’t sit very much.
But i do get depressed.
Whats
the scrambler treatment?
Difficult healing wounds are a problem. I was a burn nurse for a period of time and I understand the complexities you’re dealing with. Did anyone speak about hyperbaric treatment?
Yes my Doctor has.
Unfortunately because I have idiopathic peripheral neuropathy, my insurance won’t cover it.
They say if I had sugar diabetes, Neuropathy they would cover it.
