Preparing for a colostomy reversal: What tips would you share?

Posted by laloposer @laloposer, Jun 18 10:19am

Hello my husband is 4 months post emergency surgery for complicated diverticulitis which resulted in an end colostomy. He had no complications from first surgery and all the testing indicated everything is healing ,met with surgeon and he is scheduled for reversal in 60 days. Is there anyone who has been through this type of reversal who hopefully has had good results. Any tips to prepare beforehand or what to expect after would be helpful . Thank you

I had a stoma for while and had my w pouch built and reconnected and it was scary having it done but worth it and stay away from foods with red dye and spicy food and eat binding foods like cheese and get really soft toilet paper too and baby rash cream helps too
Having the reversal was what helped me feel like I was normal again
