Keep calling Mayo Clinic Jacksonville to get on waitlist. Took me a long time then waitlist a long time , then 3 more months to get appt . 7 months total .
I went 3 days testing out patient and Dr. Was no better than previous Gastro Dr’s . I’m a medical mystery for 9 years. It’s horrendous!

No, sorry , I never heard of that. What are your symptoms? I was referring to surgery called fundoplication… in a support group , I hear ( mostly, but not only) bad news about successful cases of this surgery. I would love to know if there is unbiased data on the success rate and how common complications are… especially in populations over 65.. but at some point I may have to decide on the best surgeon & go forward. Mayo ( at least in one location) is not even taking names for a waiting list.

I have upper abdominal pain, constipation, gas, belching, bloated stomach. No OTC meds have helped and no PPI’s or any other prescription medication has helped. Been bedridden for a year now.

I too was placed on a PPI for a second time. After 6 months, I wanted to go off due to my concerns of side effects which I wasn’t experiencing. But this was my second time on a PPI. I asked my doctor there’s no way to know if this is being effective. She sent me to GI and I had a third endoscopy. Result: my cells were hypertrophic and told to no longer take the PPI. We are led to believe these meds heal. These medications do not heal, they reduce or eliminate symptoms for a period of time. Symptoms do come back as did mine. I turned to functional medicine to find a cause for my digestive symptoms and gerd. Testing results: I had a small intestinal bacteria-SIBO- as well as a parasite and fungus. Protocol included prebiotics, probiotics, digestive enzymes, and working with a nutritionist to make changes to my diet to promote a healthier biome.

My story is too long to post .
Hopefully you will get a better GI Dr than the one they assigned to me at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville. I’m no longer a patient after the three tests in 2020 there .
I still suffer day and night with chronic horrible symptoms. 7 diagnoses and over 20 tests in 10 yrs . I’m so fatigued in day and just try to do my best to get things done ✔️ abs survive another day . My sleep 💤 is horrible because my gut and intestines are non stop 🛑. I deep wet belch over 2000 x a day night , tastes like gut lining . Omg 😳. I just saw Functional med practitioner , going to do extensive bloodwork and another abdominal ultrasound soon . Started me on a Bile reflux med you put in water . I’m not too hopeful as it be tried everything and I mean everything on the market , holistic, OTC . I’m a medical mystery.
I wish you all the best …..

I asked my Primary care Dr. about the drug Pantaprazole and it's side effects and he said would you rather have cancer or deal with side effects of the PPi? He said that doesn't mean that I'll get bad bones or kidney problems.

Hello there I started taking Pantroprazole 40mg twice a day since 12/10/2022 I haven't felt much of those side effects But I do feel anxiety and dry itchy patches of skin. My Anxiety might be because of the final diagnosis of my ulcer though. For me a week after finding out I had an ulcer, I was told that what they found after biopsies turned out to be cancer. The whole experience so far this past month has caused me major Anxiety. How long have you been taking this medication? Sorry if this scares/worries you in any ways.
