Any thoughts on using a system with Pouch liners?
I have ileostomy and use Convetec Natura, which I really like, no issues at all. I recently saw an add for a pouch liner, described as when ready throw liner away, insert a new one and your on your way, this can be a game changer. Convetec does not make such a liner. Any thoughts on a system that does have a liner and is as easy to use as Convetec Natura? Thanks, Terry

Liners can be used with any ostomy. I use a Convatec 2 piece and use a drainable bag because it has more volume. I use Doggy waste bags because they have more volume and are way cheaper. Doggy waste bags are easier than factory liners for an ileostomy. Liners make camping and outdoor activities a lot easier.
My stoma has recently began to make a girgling sound, of course usually when we are at a social event, any thoughts on how to calm it down. Material being passed is usually liquid, prolly need to stiffen that up.
Gas in the pouch is what causes the bag to ballon. Drinking w/ a straw, chewing gum, eating too fast, and eating gassy foods are what causes your pouch to balloon. Have you eliminated all the above items and your bag is filling up with gas?
The many times a day I have to burp it, many times it goes so tight I think it may explode and I have to look for a safe spot. Terry
What is your concern with burping the bag?
I just change my pouch. Sure it can get expensive doing this, but it pretty much solve most of my defecation challenges.
I pretty much have given up on the liner idea. The idea is wonderful but it needs some design work. I am safisfied with my two piece convetec system, with the exeception of burping it several times a day, again needs some design work. I tuly feel if those who are in R and D for the various manufacturers of products had a bag at their side they would more aggressive with there development. Until then, it is what it is!!
I tried the liner for one time. I didn't think about the bag for about 5 hours. I went to change the liner bag. The liner had already dissolved. So I never did the liner again.
Thank you, I always look for an easier more convient way. Terry
The liners are really made for use with a colostomy, not an ileostomy. The idea is that with your once or twice a day stool you can take off the closed pouch, throw away the liner and stool and put the closed pouch back on. I suspect it would be very messy with an ileostomy.
