Any thoughts on using a system with Pouch liners?

Posted by xxxlt @xxxlt, Apr 16 2:58pm

I have ileostomy and use Convetec Natura, which I really like, no issues at all. I recently saw an add for a pouch liner, described as when ready throw liner away, insert a new one and your on your way, this can be a game changer. Convetec does not make such a liner. Any thoughts on a system that does have a liner and is as easy to use as Convetec Natura? Thanks, Terry

We used disposable two piece systems for colostomy. Do you have access to those at Convatec?

Is that something other than Natura?

This is what we used, with and without a filter

ConvaTec Natura+ Two Piece Closed End Ostomy Pouch, Without Filter,

I am not sure I am allowed to post a link. You can google it. The disposable pouch snaps onto the barrier and gets removed 2-3 times/day. Then a new pouch is snapped on.

The ileostomy page has a barrier for this system but the pouches look like they are all drainable rather than disposable. I would call the company. They have nurses and staff who are very very helpful.

I suspect you saw something like this disposable liner:

If you are looking for a disposable liner I think you need to buy that separately.

I tried this one (after seeing it on a YouTube video), which is described as biodegradable. Well, about the third one I tried degraded inside my Hollister pouch with the bottom dissolving. That was it for me!

The liners are really made for use with a colostomy, not an ileostomy. The idea is that with your once or twice a day stool you can take off the closed pouch, throw away the liner and stool and put the closed pouch back on. I suspect it would be very messy with an ileostomy.

Thank you, I always look for an easier more convient way. Terry
