Post op Hernia mesh testicle pain

I don’t know where to begin:
I had bilateral hernia repair lower abdomen ~ the worse pain post op .
Testicles or scrotum turned black and swelled to a large orange size with so much pain ~ at 3 months I complained ~ and the PA said it was normal ~ at the 12 month mark I web to urgent care and ultrasound was performed , Then I seen my primary Dr asking for a urologist referral. More ultrasound done . Urologist said I’ll have to live with the pain or go back in with surgery which he didn’t recommend but wanted to check my prostate . What the Heck !!!
Another month and I’m asking to see a specialist.
The issue is that my testicles retract super high past and into my body .
I’ve never had this issue prior to the surgery . I think I have normal to large size testicles and no pain as they hang . It’s when mostly the left side when it retracts up in my body .
A hot shower or warm bed even a blow dryer doesn’t help to relax my testicles to lower theirselves.
I have not found a solution to relieve the pain . It’s not all the time but only when retracted when it’s the worse .
Has this happened to anyone else ?

Hello @ihatepainalot, Welcome to Connect. It must be terribly frustrating dealing with the pain for more than a year following your bilateral hernia surgery. I had bilateral inguinal hernia surgery awhile back and was fortunate that everything went OK with the recovery. While we wait for other members who may have experience, I did find some related information that sounds like what may be causing your symptoms.

Have you thought about seeking help or a second opinion at a teaching hospital or major health facility?

No I haven’t . It seems Kaiser is giving me the runaround.
Since I had the bilateral hernia surgery I had my knee and shoulder replaced .
But this pain is very debilitating .
I am on Medi Cal state medical care from Kaiser .
I’m very interested in relief ~

I don’t believe your postoperative symptoms are normal to encounter such pain for so long. Have you gone back to the surgeon since the last postop visit? If not I highly suggest you contact them.

He said it’s normal ~ but for the last 3 days I’ve been limited in movement so I went to the urologist this morning ~ the doctor wasn’t in but I have a appointment for tomorrow ~ I took lab work today .
No it’s not normal ~ I have pain shooting into my hip joints .
Pain pills don’t help with the in my testicles ~ retraction is the worse
