My wife went through this three years ago. I’d like to say it was a piece of cake but it was not! Yes, she had a medicated spacer implanted for 8 weeks due to elevated blood levels of Cobalt / Chromium and two staph infection with no unusual symptoms; that we knew of! Do remember there are class action law suits for failed components; on should consult an attorney before having surgery in the event the attorney needs your old device? Elevated Cobalt and Chromium levels can do things internally I am sure; what exactly, who knows. We even tried connecting with a VA orthopedic specialist because they deal with prosthetic all the time and never really could get any long term answers! Best of luck
