Post Covid hand writing issues

Hello,
Im just wondering if anyone else after having COVID and maybe being diagnosed with long COVID, has had trouble writing? after I got Covid and Covid pneumonia I realized it got hard for me to write. Some letters and numbers harder than others. For example sometimes I can make an 8 no problem other times it takes me like 10 seconds to finish the 8… or the same for like an A that’s the first letter in my name…I’m 36 for some background so I’ve been writing an A for years but after COVID it takes me awhile.. anyone else have a similar experience or problem?

Welcome Ashley @ashnunn, My handwriting is bad but it wasn't too hot even before having COVID. I don't think you are alone though as @dlydailyhope and @frouke have also mentioned problems writing with their hands following COVID in another discussion. Hopefully they can share more experience and suggestions with you along with others who may have the same symptoms.

Do you also have any tremors or shakiness when you try to write?

Yes!, although I’m quit a bit older than you, I know exactly what you’re talking about, post omicron 2 years ago

Yes! I also omit letters in common words! Have to go back & correct . Misshapen numbers. Cannot hurry and dash off a note or list.

Betty, snap! I keep a daily health diary after 4 1/2 years LC and often write ‘jittery in hands’ or some such and correct what I have written too.

Yes! Shaky hands. My signature and initials which I had perfected many years ago as a new bride will do - married 41 years now - I have to think about and usually have to sign in stages instead of one fluid motion. I cannot write in cursive because I have to think about how to form each letter. Crazy! I'll be 4 years LC next month. (9/11/2024)

I’ve had essential tremor for 30 years but could easily write legibly. Post Covid (4 years) it’s much worse. I struggle to write or print & my writing looks very shaky. As with my other chronic illnesses, Covid made the tremor much worse.
I do best with thicker implements like Sharpies.

I've had long COVID and also, preceding the long-COVID, essential tremor. My hands shake and writing is difficult. A hand therapist (PT) to whom I was referred suggested I put weights on a pen. I have found that is a great help. I found stick-on tire (wheel) weights (Amazon), each weighing one ounce. I find 4 weights (4 ounces total) helps a great deal. I have one pen with weights on it that I carry in my purse (makes my purse 4 oz. heavier) and one here at my desk.

Interestingly, nobody has asked me why I use such a strange looking pen! I put two ounces on each side of the pen. Put one end of the weights close to the top of the pen; if they are put too low on the pen, you won't be able to see the point. You will likely lose the ability to clip the pen to something. Good luck.

I noticed that as well. I figured it was because I had been sick and my muscles were just weak. But, it has been over 4 years now, so that’s not it. For me, some days are better than others and I notice that if I slow down when writing and really concentrate, it is easier to write
