Possible Addison's Disease: Is weight gain a symptom?
Has anyone known of Addison's Disease causing weight gain?I have been ill for over 2 years. They are not finding much.A Neurologist I went to thinks I have a metabolic muscular disease.I have low deha sulfate,TSH goes back and forth from high to normal, glucose will go from a tiny bit high to normal, low carbon dioxide in blood.I have a ton of symptoms, but here are a few.My arms have become huge especially my upper arms, legs got huge.big belly.I can barely walk because I just don't have the strength anymore, especially in the trunk of the body.I have had Hashimito's for a long time and I am only on 50 mg of synthroid. From the research I have done low deha sulfate could possibly cause Addison's Disease.I thought I might have Cushings Disease because of all my extreme weight gain, but the deha sulfate is low and the cortisol is normal. From the research I have done you would lose weight with Addison's.I was in shape and exercised all of the time before my illness came on.Things became really bad after an iron infusion for heavy periods for years.I don't know if it was just a coincidence or if that really made my body go really haywire.I have tried to replay what could have caused this.Maybe it was coming on and I did not realize it.Losing so much blood for years from heavy periodsand working in Healthcare during the pandemic.

DHEA is available as a capsule. Have you tried supplements.?
Thanks for responding. Not yet.I am waiting to talk to my Endricinologist.I am just trying to figure out what disease this is I have.
I've had some similar symptoms, after taking birth control. It completely screwed up my thyroid, and I already had hashimoto's before that. I would go to an endocrinologist and see if you need to be on more or better thyroid hormone.
Thankyou for responding.I go to the endricinologist this week so I will see if I can getva higher dosage of synthroid.I feel like nothing in my body is working like it should.I had to gonto the ER yesterday for my heart. All they found was pleurisy.I wonder if the thyroid brought it on.
