I'm not sure there is one root cause of PMR but it's definitely good to learn as much as you can about treatments that can help you manage the condition. Here's some information I think @dadcue may have shared in other discussions and may have some additional thoughts or suggestions on seeking a functional medicine doctor.

How long have you been diagnosed with PMR?

3 ReactionsIt is important to control the inflammatory condition
if your ESR and CRP are elevated. Systemic inflammation can lead to permanent damage to joint,
cardiovascular and neurological systems.
Consider Mediterranean diet trial and control the disease
with your rheumatologist before seeing functional medicine practitioner. Good idea to have a cardiac risk
evaluation.

2 Reactions@johnbishop a little over 8 months. I do not like the effects of methylprednisolone, it does help the pain but also gives me hot flashes, ear ringing, mood swings, and terrible brain fog. I have lot if intestinal issues so kezvara is not an option for me

1 Reaction@seniormed ive had 3 heart attack, suffer from SVT and have a left ventricular hypertrophy at 25% 😭 using a biologic seems like it will open me up to every possible infection and cause other issues too. I already feel absolutely miserable and sick, adding more side effects and a lower immune system seems thw opposite of helping
