Polycythemia Vera, lupus, MGUS more. Can't find MM oncologist
Hi All. Finally have formal diagnosis on several things. See title. Plus CHIP and chronic anemia. I can't find care. Not sure what to do. Thinking of selling my house and moving out of state but don't feel well enough. Any thoughts or ideas? Mayo is here but won't accept my medicare advantage. I can't get regular medicare until I'm 65. Several years away. Any comments or advice appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry, but this isn't making sense to me. You can't get a Medicare advantage ("MA") plan without already having Medicare parts A and B. In fact, MA carriers make their money largely from reimbursement deals with Medicare itself.
Immediately call the financial aid office at Mayo and ask for a Charity Care Application. All hospitals that get federal tax breaks and federal money HAVE TO PROVIDE IT TO THE POPULATION THEY SERVE!
They don't brag about it but they do. Also, you can call any good hospital around your area and do the same with them. Do it now. Time is essential and feeling good is your main goal.
I have it at Duke and UNC Medical centers and it's a godsend. Labs are $20. Hospital stay is a flat $100 for the length of my stay. Regular Dr. visits are $10, ER visits are 50 bucks! Take control of your situation, because no one else is going to share this info with you. This is a great resource site and I wish you nothing but the best! Hugs
Hi. I am not 65 and have been on medicare advantage for almost two years. Once I turn 65, I can sign up for regular medicare and medigap plan.
Thank you very much for your response. I did not see it previously. I will try that thank you again.
Here is the link to Mayo Charity Care application. Good luck. Let us know how it worked out.
It usually takes 6-8 weeks to get approval due to backlog, but you may get it sooner.
Copy below and paste into your search engine on your computer. Good luck!

That’s a service that is certainly beneficial to the community but I wish they would call it something less stigmatizing.
