PMR, GCA, and flu/Covid shots.
I developed PMR 2 months after a flu shot 12 years ago and GCA a few years later. I continued to take flu shots and then Covid shots and a booster. I'm on 5 mg of prednisone, have tried methotrexate but it didn't help, so I think I have to assume I'm on prednisone for life. My health continues to deteriorate and I can't help but wonder if these yearly vaccines are contributing to my pain and decline. Anyone else feel the same?

So sorry to hear of your continued health issues. In my own opinion only, I would not take any more of the Covid vaccines in your immune suppressed state! I don’t believe the earlier and current flu vaccines have contributed to your health problems, although I have no idea what these issues are and that’s something I suggest you speak with your PCP and Rheumatologist about. Everyone is different and certainly can react differently to medications.
Also, has your doctor suggested adding a biologic like Actemra as a way of getting off predisone? Is the prednisone you are taking for PMR or other health issues? What other continued health issues are you having besides PMR?
Unfortunately we all experience a certain degree of decline as we age. You will also get responses from our other members that should be helpful to you.
Hoping you can get some relief with some of your health issues.
