PMR and creaky bones

Posted by vandyms1974 @vandyms1974, Sep 18, 2022

I have been diagnosed with PMR and take low-dose prednisone. I also have creaky bones. For example, when I turn over in bed, my shoulder and hip bones creak like wood scrapping together. Does anyone else experience this or am I dealing with another issue? I have been on pred since 4/27/22. I had a normal bone density test in July.

@vandyms1974, My PMR is in remission but I often feel similar joint noises when rolling over in bed and getting comfortable. I think it has more to do with arthritis and old age than PMR. Not to say PMR and creaky bones can't be be present together. Here's an explanation:

"What do creaky bones mean?
This sound usually indicates that a muscle is tight, and is rubbing and causing friction around the bone, Dr. Stearns says. The sound also could be coming from tendons rubbing over the bone. In that case, try gentle stretching, and the snapping should decrease or disappear."
