Pleural effusions noted on recent MRI

Posted by hipdysplasiajen13 @hipdysplasiajen13, 5 days ago

I recently had a routine thoracic MRI and on the results it said thin bilateral pleural effusions. Is that something to worry about or is it pretty common and/or normal? I haven’t been sick so wouldn’t think it to be pneumonia related. I’ve never had any lung or heart problems. It hasn’t been reviewed by my primary doctor yet, so have no clue what to think. Any advice is appreciated!

That is bothersome when the results are posted before the physician reviews them and has an opportunity to call you with the results. Not knowing your medical history, it would not be prudent for any interpretations to be made. Call the PCP and have them interpret for you.
