Plantar Fasciitis: How did you get rid of it?

Posted by peggyn @peggyn, Jun 22, 2019

I don't know if this is where this should be posted, but I have a few questions. Almost seems like it goes hand and hand with neuropathy.

Have you had it and how did you get rid of it. I have done 2 injections.. I use ice and ice bottle almost nightly, I've massaged, I've purchased special shoes, and I've worn compression sleeves, plus I've done the night splint.. It just won't go away. I know it's because of the atrophy on that calf.
If you've had it please share what worked for you to get rid of it.

I use Pinnacle neutral, but everbody is different. I prefer the full length instead of the 3/4 length

Acupuncture three sessions and relief started continued to stretch and ice. Losing weight can be very helpful.

Hi @peggyn, there is another discussion talking about plantar fasciitis that you might want to read here:

Ive has PF for many years on and off. I am a very active person and have had cortisone injections a couple times. It helps for awhile. I also have orthotics. I think it is much better for now because I am doing stretches and massage. The 'downward facing dog' yoga stretch is helping! I do it every morning! PF is not fun!

I developed PF in both feet in the beginning of the year. I’m getting better after doing foot exercises and ice packs on regular basis. I also bought two pairs of shoes from OrthoFeet and it’s been a game changer for me: I can go to work with minimal pain now and don’t have to get a scooter when I am grocery shopping. Can’t wait for the weather to get warmer so that I can exercise in the pool!

@jilliemo12345 Hello Jillie. I have had plantar fasciitis and it took a long time to resolve, a few months, but it did. I did a lot of stretching of my calves to stretch the Achille's tendon by using a curb at the end of my driveway to raise my toes. I did the stretch as gentle as I could and gradually worked up to a deeper stretch and took walks around the block. It took months to go away. I also saw a Podiatrist who made custom orthotics for me to support my feet properly that helped a lot too, and it hasn't happened again. I have good study hiking shoes. With RA, your feet may be different, and a Podiatrist could advise if that may be making heel pain worse. I also use my hands to rotate my ankle through its normal range of motion to keep it moving. I had an injury with an ankle fracture and get pain in the ligaments, so this helps me. I think the more limber you can be, the better things will feel. Have you seen a Podiatrist before?

Hi Jillie, I moved your question to this existing discussion about plantar faciitis.
- Plantar Fasciitis: How did you get rid of it? https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/plantar-fasciitis-1/

I did this so you can continue to connect with @jenniferhunter and other members like @peggyn @cobweb @Erinmfs @tsc @artist01 @imallears @suziet @alive @lynnelliott7 and others who have suggested things that help.

Jillie, what kind of pain do you have? What activity have you been doing lately?
