Philosphical rumenations RADIATION THERAPY

Posted by quichewithmayo @quichewithmayo, Jul 2 3:36pm

As a long-term survivor of breast xcr (2005) I am still wondering about the "WHY" of Sarcoma. I understand the mechanics and the stats of reocurrance. I understand that my radiation treatment in 2005 caused a sarcoma. But I still haven't come to terms with why I now have done another round of radiation therapy. I trust my drs, but really, why irradiate an area that already caused a sarcoma? I'm old (71) so I don't fret about a new sarcoma. It could take another 20 years, in which case I'll be dead. But heck, if I were 30, I'd be freaking out, es;ecially if I wanted to have children.
I will continue to be positive, but I truly wonder about the hopes and dreams of those folks in their twenties and thirties. Please let me know how you feel.

Greetings,

I am the grandmother of Micheal age 18, recently diagnosed with liposarcoma.

Being part of this journey, I can relate to questions without good answers. In addition to what doctor's are saying, there is a lot of information on the internet to the point where it just gets more confusing.

Have you been able to get answers to your questions on radiation? If not, tell your doctors that you need clarification. If you have and still don't have answers, ask again.

Remember the squeeky wheel gets the grease.
