PET scan verses CT scan?

Just wondering if everyone had a cat scan and a pet scan for pancreatic cancer?

They did do a tumor sample but that did not show that it was wrapped around the portal artery until they went in to do the Whipple surgery.

I guess my concern was that after the failed Whipple due to it being wrapped around the portal artery is that after that he went through chemo and now radiation. When we saw the radiation oncologist they had done a pet scan and I asked to see it. He showed me where it was wrapped around the artery. Should they have done the pet scan before putting a 75 yr old guy through a failed Whipple surgery?
