Pet scan and mastectomy

After a mastectomy and silica implant insertion is a Pet Scan useful or because of the implant trauma it can lead to vague results?

This is an interesting question--and potentially of interest to others. I don't know the answer but probably a radiologist would, and have some specific advice. If you are in this situation, have you been offered the Pet Scan for a particular reason, or is it ongoing monitoring?

I just had the last surgery to have the implants placed, I have 2 more treatments of Keytruda left and my oncologist said that after the last treatment they were going to do a PET scan. So I would think that it should be ok, maybe not right away, but in a few months time giving the area time to heal.

Has the scan been suggested to you? I'd ask any and all questions you have of the oncology team. Would be interested know what they think will work best.
