I have idiopathic pn. The only other thing my Neurologist could find on blood tests is very low B12, unsure why. So I take B12 injection every month now and gabapentin daily.
Has anyone ever tried TENS therapy for their PN? I initially tried it at PT and bought a unit for myself.
It helps with pain signals. I use it on my back as well.
I was diagnosed with non-diabetic neuropathy about 18 months ago. My neurologist kept insisting that I must be diabetic but after a series of blood glucose tests (one in which they draw your blood then give you something really sweet to drink, test your blood again and then 2 hours test it again) and I am not diabetic. My doctor did a battery of blood tests and the only thing they found wrong was that my B6 level was way too high. She told me to immediately get off of all vitamins containing B6 which I did. It took about 4 or 5 months but my neuropathy went away. This may not be your problem but definitely have them check your B6 levels if they have not. I have talked to people who had B6 toxicity for years before someone finally caught it.

Please do not take Gabapentin,it will make your symptoms worst.I have done multiple hours on this drug and it is not used for pn .It is an off label drug meaning it is for epilepsy . Pfizer made 2.27 million dollars sales on it and research said was no more effective than a placbo.it will cause other bad effects later.

Continue with B12 but definitely stop Gabapentin which will not help you at all. Unfortunately doctors suggest it but it does nothing for your pn. It is for epilepsy it is off label drug.Research findings found it was no more effective in treating pn than a placbo, itcould harmful effects later.

I have done multiple research and found that gabapentin is anti seizure med the American Family Physician journal 2006 found that gab . was completely ineffective for acute np pain.It also stated with significant side effects

My alcohol consumption is beer, with an occasional shot of tequila. Nothing crazy.
Alcohol is not good for neuropathy. But ever body and situation is different. Just monitor how it affects yours.
