Partial hysterectomy and still having menstrual cramps

Posted by sharibano @sharibano, Apr 22 8:18pm

Hi. My CT scan came back normal but I am still having menstrual cramps and bleeding due to a tear in my vaginal cuff. I am not sure whether having my ovaries removed would help with these symptoms.

One possible cause of pelvic pain and menstrual cramps after partial hysterectomy is endometriosis.

This Mayo page talks about other reasons for cramps.:

Here is information on endometriosis:

Are you willing to share why you had hysterectomy?

I am 58 and having post menopausal bleeding and cramping. My obgyn wanted to do a full hysterectomy, but due to me being a teacher, I wanted her to leave the ovaries due to the recovery time.
I am not sure what to have her do now. I had endometriosis before the hysterectomy so I’m assuming I still have it.

I had endometriosis and had a hysterectomy and they left my ovaries in. I surthrived because I believe the Gynecologist cauterized all the chocolate cysts , I got pregnant and then had the hysterectomy.
Now over 30 years later my vaginal tissue has atrophied and I have a tear in the cuff. My G.P. says the blood I'd coming from the vaginal artery. Sometimes it's bright red and other times it looks like black scabs or clots.
Hun, have faith endo is a horrible disease but you can surthrive it! I would love to share our journey through this together and keep chatting.
