Pars plans vitrectomy

My doctor said I would benefit from a PPV. My vision in the affected eye is 20/40. I have no symptoms other than not great eyesight. She said the membrane has gotten significantly worse over past two years. I don't see lines wavy, I didn't have double vision, I do have problems seeing at night. I don't fully understand the consequences of waiting longer before having eye surgery. Any thoughts or any experience waiting and then either needing or not needing the surgery?

You don't seem to be badly affected so I don't understand why they want to operate, I'm the opposite I do want the surgery. I've had this membrane problem for about a year. My vision in the affected eye is not good. I see everything wavy and larger than the other eye. It has steadily been getting worse. On my first visit with the specialist, he said he couldn't remove the membrane because of scar tissue, I have not been able to find anything about this online. I see him again in June, if he has no solution I will get a second opinion as my sight is affected by being slightly blurry all the time as the membrane worsens.
