Palliative Appointment: How do I prepare? What questions to ask?
Having my first palliative Dr appt since being diagnosed MM Jan '25.
I see that that help manage long term illness, mental health & symptoms... any questions that you can think of for me at ask.
Mentally I'm doing okay- obviously was a big shock when being diagnosed. Have family and good friends that are right at my side. Treatment #4 was yesterday- so far so good no side effects except my sleep some nights is off.

I just did a quick google of the question and found this, pretty comprehensive if you ask me:

I'm always sorry to see these types of posts and would like to wish you the very best of care and a hope for recovery.
@treehouse5437 Have you had that first appointment, yet? How do you feel after speaking with the palliative care team?
Choosing to look into palliative care is an individual decision, and can certainly help ease your mind on how to proceed with living. I will be interested to hear what you find out, what you decide when you feel comfortable sharing with us.

First appt is Monday 3/17 the appt was set up by Dr. I'll let you know.
Good appt- Dr went in-depth on bloodwork and what to watch for. Set up Health Care Proxy and MOLST *Medical Order for Life Sustaining Treatment *not that I'm anywhere near that point but always good to have in case of emergency. Two family members that are on paperwork know my wishes if I can't answer.
@treehouse5437 I am glad to hear you felt comfortable with the appointment! Information overload can be frustrating so perhaps you were given some resources to check into, also.
Having things in place, and not having to deal with a sudden need to make decisions, is usually a great idea. It will give you peace of mind, even though it might seem like overkill at the time. And remember that you can adjust things as needed.

@treehouse5437, what did you learn about palliative care that you didn't know and you think would help others? What questions were you glad you asked?
Palliative Dr was great explaining in depth my blood #'s.
Explained MOLST & Health proxy which we set up and downloaded into my medical files.
Not always easy talking about the "what if" but important to have in place with a chronic illness.
Will see Palliative Dr only as needed for now maybe end of summer but good to know they are there if/when needed.
