Pain pump/exercise

Posted by heisenberg34 @heisenberg34, Jun 18, 2023

Has anyone had a pain pump implanted and been able to reume cycling after the healing process was completed? How about being able to exercise or get physical therapy? I am able to to all kinds of work around the house, but have not done any of the above=mentioned activites yet. Appreciate any help.

Hi @heisenberg34, There are a couple of discussions where members are sharing their experience with pain pumps if you haven't already seen them.

The biggest concern I might have is doing any type of movement/exercise that might shift or disturb the implanted pain pump. I would think that the manufacturer of the device would have a list of restrictions or limitations available. Have you talked with the surgeon who did the implant or your care team to see what they say?

So, four months after pain pump implant and numerous adjustments. I would have to honestly say that it has been, except for about one week, a big, fat, failure. Just when I had my pain level down to about a 2 for about 10 days, all the pain rushed back. I have had it readjusted upwards two more times without any real noticeable improvement. Dye test showed that the pump is working fine. The pump is pumping hydromorphone because the first pump trial with morphine did nothing. The second trial used hydromorphone which made my pain levels fall to about a 2. Anyone else have similar problems with their pump? Appreciate feedback.
