Uterine cancer: Anyone have pain months after complete hysterectomy?

Posted by jjevitts @jjevitts, Apr 23, 2023

I’m 67 and last July had a complete hysterectomy and was diagnosed with stage 1B endometrial cancer. I had brachytherapy as preventative treatment. A few months ago I began experience pain, almost like a pulled muscle in the right hip, lower pelvic region. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

@maesuai

It seems to come and go and it started a couple of weeks ago. She finally brought it up with me the other day as it seemed to become somewhat worse and she said she did not want to worry me. Just guessing but it seems to mostly be around the line of incision so maybe it's related to scarring? In any case, we will bring it up and I will encourage her to document when she feels it and any other observations. I believe you were asking if I attend appointments with her. Yes, I attend pretty much every appointment.

@maesuai It's great that you can go to these appointments with your wife. In my experience it's important to have another "set of ears" to listen to the medical provider and to take notes. When I'm the patient I can get somewhat anxious and rattled so I'm grateful that my husband comes to appointments with me. We can then discuss what we both heard.

It's good that your wife finally shared what she's experiencing with you. I get that she doesn't want to worry you. I know that feeling but I'm thinking that she would want to know if this was you?
