@gasman: ohhh man, I can relate to your kidney stone pain! I had it bilaterally! Take otc pain relief if you can, rest, eat soft foods sparingly. Drink water!

Since you are not able to see a urologist today, my advice is drink water… more than you think you need… I mean at least 64oz purified, filtered water! Also add Diluted Cranberry juice to keep your bladder calmer, particularly if it hurts when you pee.
You probably will need a urine culture to determine which antibiotic to use. An antibiotic may be needed if you have urinary infection. An rx for a drug to relax your urethra will help pass stone too.
You can always go to your local ER in extreme pain - in Emergency they should have urologist to perform the procedure as Emergency basis.
In a brighter note: kidney stones can move around causing pain. Sometimes they stay in same place and pain eases up. This on/off situation can last awhile. You may feel much better for a length of time. I hope that you will find relief soon and that my 2cents have helped you.
p.s.: If you pass stone - retrieve them & keep. Urologist can determine what they consist of and you can avoid certain food in future!

My daughter is now waiting for surgery to remove a 19 mm stone.
She first got sick 2 weeks ago and had 3 ER visits, 2 hospital stays and the stone is still there. A urologist placed a stent to make sure urine could leave the kidney.
For a long time she did not tolerate oral meds and food but is managing now- keeping as still as possible.
4 years ago she had a smaller stone in same kidney and developed sepsis.
Follow advice on hydration and call doctor or go to ER if you feel worse. Infection is not uncommon.
