Pain And Changes In Weather...Am I Alone????

Posted by cahnny @cahnny, Sep 10, 2016

I've read articles saying that changes in weather can effect severity of pain and, of course, there's the old timers who swear the old bones ache when it's gonna rain. Well I guess, at 70 years old, I'm now an old timer and, let me tell you...my old bones and muscles, and skin, and hair HURT. There are days I hurt from neuropathy and Morton's Neuroma in my feet and legs, to profound itching along my degenerating spine (I think due to pinches nerves), to aching joints, swollen cysts behind my arthritic knees, gut discomfort from IBS, pinched nerves EVERYWHERE to neck pain that goes down my arms, to skin that just feels sore and tingly. I'm talking all these things all at the same time. It's like someone flipped a switch and lit me up like a roman candle. One doctor will say...that could very well be. Another doctor will say poppy cock. Well poppy cock this...I know my body and I know how it feels and I know it's not in my head. Now it might be coming FROM my head...as in mixed up signals from the brain saying YOU'RE IN PAIN but the pain and sensations are real.

I needed a new bedside alarm clock so purchased a clock that also provides barometric pressure, temperature, and humidity readings. It seems, without fail, on days when there is a dramatic swing in barometric pressure my body goes into all over intense pain mode. Do any of you have the same experiences??? I'm not talking just a little aching. I'm talking REAL discomfort.

Do you need an actual barometer to measure barometric pressure?

Research has indicated that barometric changes can increase your pain. You are not imagining it. Blessings!

I’m in my mid 30s. I have fibro and the aches have been excruciating. I can’t sleep. I’ve used topical Voltaren plus topical THC/CBD cream which sort of helps, plus ibuprofen and medical cannabis. I also get migraines and those have been ramping up. I hate it. I’m so sorry that you’re suffering too.

I have similar symptoms. I’m sorry for your pain. I alternate Tylenol with Advil. Also, I recently started Neurtec. That has helped my migraines tremendously.
Best of luck to you all,
Kat

I have had this problem since a young child. Finally about 15 yrs ago I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and Ehlers Danlos. I have same symptoms and I feel so much for you. I am 57 yrs old and each year I age the issues seems to get more intense in the pain department. I take certain meds for other issues but best things I have found is Aleve and cbd gummies that have no mind altering thc in them. Granted there is no cure for my issues but I do get massive relief on two thirds of my days. I also have to do a regular regimen of light physical therapy to keep me from being so sore and stiff I can't move. I also at times when in bad flare have to use a steroid pack to regain my mobility. There are days tho that I just have to rest or sleep the day away still. I listen to my body and take those days to help recuperate. God bless you in finding a happy medium to enjoying the rest of your life. God be with you !!

My mom suffered from 3 types of arthritis and she was always able to tell if the weather was going to change in a day or two ....even though the weather report said it would be bright and sunny.
And she was always right.
I have spinal stenosis and my pain intensifies greatly when the weather changes for the worst. No anti inflammatory pill helps.
Even my orthopedist said the weather affects people’s pain level.
I think that’s why people that live in cold climates more to Arizona or Fla.

I live in Texas where we've been getting inclement weather.
Todays weather will be really bad this afternoon and I'm feeling it all the way up to my neck! It too will pass. My prayers and I thank God every day for helping me. Bless you all!

I agree with you and I have the same issue. I have had 7 surgeries and 4 of them have been replacements. My life and a job I loved was lost because of the pain. I need a spine replacement but unfortunately they are currently not doing those. I’m 68 and never thought my life would end like this.

Barometric pressure, seems to to be painful when it goes down, even one degree. I have been looking every day on the weather channel on the internet. If it is 30.00 or above my pain is less, not gone but less. When it is 29.99 and lower is when my pain gets worse. I have been told that even 1 degrees will make a difference. It sure seems to effect me that way.
