Osteoporosis and Blood Pressure - Wellbutrin
Since starting on Wellbutrin a few months ago, I’ve noticed my blood pressure is now consistently high of 146. (Resting rate is good).
I’ve read high blood pressure can cause bone loss. I already have osteoporosis. I don’t want to lose any bone. Any comments? My blood pressure used to be 120.
I’m on low dose of Wellbutrin, 150mg. I’m considering going off of Wellbutrin.
(I started taking it due to not being motivated doing anything, but I was not depressed). I’m 69 yrs old and eating healthy, take supplements, jog and work out. Any advisement would be welcome.
I do not want to start blood pressure meds.

1 ReactionI've been on Wellbutrin as it helped fatigue and have not had my blood pressure rise over the last 4 years with being on Wellbutrin. I also have osteoporosis & was on fosamax for about 4 years and recently have been off fosamax/on 'holiday' due to improvement in bone density. A repeat DEXA is scheduled next year. Wow-great that you can enjoy jogging!

1 Reaction@dtevis it’s good to know you’re blood pressure did not go up. I am taking because of fatigue/no motivation as well. For that, it has helped a great deal.
I’m glad your bone report is better! Maybe something else is going on causing the higher blood pressure.
Well, I’m going to find out and have dr run all my yearly blood tests, etc. my mother had heart problems, maybe hereditary.
