what are the simple, safe, weight bearing exercises to do at home for a 65yo male, to improve his osteopenia of lumbar spine having T-score of -1.1?

I would ask a physical therapist. But let me say this...I'm 71 yrs old and just had surgery on L-2 thru S-1. 5 weeks ago and now can use a walker but not for long. I'm so weak. If anyone has has this surgery, please contact me. Maybe I'm trying to rush it, but this is one surgery you don't want to have. I was in a lot of pain before, but sure didn't expect this.😫😫

This group discussion has been beneficial! Just an update from my PCP who finally had a chance to review my BDT results. He said my other parts are near osteopenia, having T-score at -0.9s, and -1.0s. He recommended besides weight bearing exercise I should take Ca-supplement at 1000-1200mg/day. I have never taken Ca pill and avoided for fear of increasing Ca-score in my arteries. Reading about Ca-supplement, I got impression that absorption of Ca from supplement in various (chemical) forms are questionable. Any comments? Thanks ahead.

cinthe2,
almost all of us will die from heart disease. Very few will die from osteoporosis and then only fracture complications.
I never take more than 500mg of calcium in a day even then it's in two doses of 250. Your bones can't use more than 500 in a dose ( I've heard). I've also heard that it can be wise to take vitamin K2 4 with the calcium dose.
One thing everyone agrees on is that it is better to get calcium through food intake. We are said to need 1200 a day total. It isn't easy to determine how much we get from food because the total calcium listed is not the amount we are able to absorb. We are said to be able to absorb only 30% of the calcium in dairy products, for example.
While I like your forward thinking PCP, the advice feel shortsighted ( wrong, I mean to say, without having any medical credentials). https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7276095/

@chinthe2 if you can get the recommended calcium from food alone, that is preferable

@laura1970 it was recommended for me to take 1200mg of calcium and 2000units of vit D. Vit D helps the body absorb the calcium.
I got tired of those horse pills and began using patches.
Well worth it.
