Osteoboost helpful?

Has anyone used the Osteoboost device? If so, has it helped?

Thank you.

I belong to a webinar group that meets weekly and this week the moderator, Dr. Lani Simpson (chiropractor not an MD), scoffed at this device. That's just one person's opinion - but there are a lot of gimmicks and people out there who capitalize on the fear of others, so you have to be careful. It costs $995.

I would like to know if Dr. Simpson read the research on the device - its posted on the website. I find it amusing that a chiropractor (a profession scoffed at by many scientists, medical doctors, nutritionists, and other health providers) would be so cavalier.

In any case, I agree that Caveat Emptor should be the guiding principal for most sizable purchases. I built my own version of the Osteoboost for about $40.00 with a peanut shaped vibrating massager (https://natracure.com/collections/back-chest/products/peanut-vibrating-massage-roller) afixed to a neoprene belt (designed to hold a hot-cold pack) that I happened to have. I'm really interested to see my next bone scan results, but it will be at least another 6 months before I have one done.

Enjoy the day.

@elisny She says she has, but who really knows? I understand the irony.

@elisny Cool about your make-your-own hip level body-vibration. I also do my own version using my whole body vibration machine and doing "boat pose" on it for 10 mins. No way can I hold even a modified version of this for a full 30 mins. This position on the WBV machine is also described in the literature that came with it.

I try to lean back more in my boat pose to put more of my weight higher than the normal sitting bones.

@elisny , I have been using the Osteoboost belt since May (except for one month when it had problems and I had to ship it back for repair). It’s easy to use and integrate into your daily routine.

I just had a DXA. The changes in my score over the last year changes were small enough that they are statistically insignificant. (All within the “Least Significant Change). But given that, my spine and hip got slightly worse and my femoral neck and forearm got slightly better.

It’s impossible to know what to attribute to the Osteoboost belt because I’m doing so many other things. Lots of exercise including a 2x per week Osteoporosis Weight Class based on the LIFTMOR study, supplementing with Calcium,Vit D, Magnesium and K2, and HRT.

I started using the belt because my endocrinologist suggested it as something that might help. I was willing to add anything that might help (and that wouldn’t hurt… because the device is FDA Cleared, it has been demonstrated to be safe).

Since getting it, my sense is that it may help a little but is most meaningful in situations where the user can’t do a lot of other types of exercise. Here’s a video on it from Dr Doug Lucas. He started out as a sceptic and then changed his opinion somewhat. But note that he now has an arrangement with the company to get affiliate revenue.

Good luck!

@wondering1 Thank you so much for your reply. I am doing other things too, so it will be hard to differentiate what is doing what. But like you, I want to increase my chances of holding steady or reversing course. A friend of mine, at her docs request, added 2 cups of almond milk to her diet and that helped her reverse course from osteoporosis to osteopenia. That makes me hopeful too. Time will tell. Thanks again.

@elisny , I forgot to add the link to the Dr Doug Lucas video. Here it is.

@babs10 Did you intend to reference that article about OsteoStrong in this thread about OsteoBoost?

The similar names often make me have to pause.

Osteoboost is a wearable device for low-intensity vibration to hips and spine.

Osteostrong is brief, less than a minute on each, once per week, of 4 proprietary static resistance devices that do not move or vibrate.

@kfhoz SO SORRY - my first post 6 days ago was about Osteoboost. My bad on the most recent one. Thanks for calling that to my attention! I reached out to the moderators with hopes they will delete this one and I apologize for the confusion.
