Can you tell me if I should use my Breyna (broncho dialator) before I use the nebulizer or after? I use Levabuteral and then 7% saline in the nebulizer.

When I was using breyna my pulmonologist said to use it the last and rinse/brush teeth/mouth. I don’t know if you use albuterol or levalbuterol as the first thing before sodium chloride and airway clearance.

Each person is different. I have chosen to try older natural herbs rather than spend $$$ on drugs that did not help. I am in my mid 70's & know that how i take care of myself is my sole responsibility. We each are responsible for ourselves.

@doberdoo I may be the odd man out here, but I use my Breyna inhaler instead of a levalbuterol neb. My pulmonologist, who specializes in treating complex asthma or asthma with Bronchiectasis or COPD, has "weaned" me off levalbuterol nebs except during a serious exacerbation. So now, I use Breyna, rinse my mouth, wait 15 minutes then nebulize saline, followed by airway clearance.
The purpose of Breyna (or Symbicort or formoterol/budesonide combo - all the same drug) it to keep the airways open and reduce inflammation long term, as opposed to the short-term effect of albuterol/levalbuterol.

Maybe you can ask your pulmonologist if this routine might work for you?

@sueinmn

Why do you specify "weaned" off levalbuterol?

@mountains1957 Because ar first, after over 30 years, I found it hard to visualize life without it. I needed to see for myself that Symbicort could really take its place.

A, (ex) nurse I know with asthma recently told me that there was new information saying there wete more problems with salbutamol than Symbicort...and yet a doctor said I could use quite a lot of salbutamol (Ventolin) without worrying about it. Sue have you heard any concerns with Ventolin? I am using Symbicort twice a day now...and rarely use the Ventolin.

Interesting, I’m having problems with albuterol/levalbuterol.

@narelled23 I haven't heard anything about it, but know when I was prescribed it I couldn't use it (lost in the sands of time - I don't remember why.) My current pulmos say they never prescribe it, describing it as harsh.
