open tib, fib & ankle fracture 7 weeks post ORIF

Had orif following open tib & fib fracture 7 weeks ago. Discharged from hosp with crutches. Attended fracture clinic 4 weeks ago, told to weight bear to get injured foot to go flat on floor. Fracture clinic today, xray showed tibia not attaching. Looked up possible causes, one of which is weight bearing prematurely. Anyone else had this?
