Only one treatment after 2 Turbt is it normal?

Posted by DapDoxieMom @dapdoxiemom, Mar 25, 2023

I was diagnosed in Dec. 2023 with ta high grade bladder cancer. On Jan 10 they did the 2nd Turbt. Non muscle invasive. My urologist did one treatment and I had to wait one hour afterwards before I could go home.
I was expecting that I would need several treatments but his PA said No just one. You're cancer free. It's like a skin cancer you remove it....it's gone. I go back the end of April for my cystoscopy.
I have been told this is not normal from others. I'm debating if I should get a second opinion.

Hi Dap,

I am under bladder surveillance due to the removal of my kidney, ureter, adrenal gland and bladder cuff. First cytoscopy since surgery in August 2022 showed multiple areas of erythemia. My current urologist asked if I had the bladder washed in Metomycin after surgery. Then said something about BCG treatment which is a tuberculous virus that is injected into the bladder and stops surface cancer cells dead.

If your cancer cells were on the surface, perhaps this was what happened.

Remember it is your body, you need to know, so demand the complete information from the doctor.

Has anyone had a bladder diverticulum? Did you have surgery and how was the out come? Did the bladder get back to working after the surgery?

Hi Dap , I also have had the same treatments as you, I have a low grade cancer and I always wondered myself why only one treatment but I've had many turbt, and always one treatment after. I just had I last week. I just asked for a conversation about my condition and my treatments, and today I got a call from the office and they want to start a 6 week program with chemo, you need to ask sometimes for what and why things are done that way.
Hope all stays well
