My wife passed away unexpectedly 6 weeks ago. I am attending my first in person support group today (not on-line) and I can let you know tomorrow how it goes. As far as on-line, you can check out GriefShare, they do some in person and on-line as well. I will begin an on-line GriefShare session in mid-April. About 2 weeks ago, I did attend what GriefShare called a special event, one evening, it was online, and I found it helpful.
Thank you for this info; it is appreciated.
My sincere sympathy to you on the passing of your wife. My husband died 17 days ago so unfortunately we both started this horrible journey just recently. Blessed be their memories and may you find comfort in your grief.
@kathi090518 Folks will say I can't imagine what you are going through. I can. We need to cherish the memories, and I hope you find some level of comfort in your grief as well. I am also considering seeing a grief counselor in a week or so if I don't improve. My sister did just that 10 years ago, took a few sessions and it helped her. Wishing you the best and take care.

My sincere condolences on the loss of your wife. Praying for peace and comfort for you.

So sorry to hear of the passing of your husband. May you find strength and comfort during this difficult time.
@kathi090518 - I wanted to let you know that I did attend my first in-person support group and found it very helpful. The group meets weekly. All of the stages of grief are discussed and are common to all who lose a spouse. The most helpful part is being able to talk to others who are going through the same as me. The level of grief in losing a spouse is a life changing event and I found comfort in meeting others who are on the same road to recovery as me. Be patient, it takes time which differs for all. Taking care of yourself is most important. Ed
My condolences on the loss of your wife. I lost my wife suddenly 2 years ago and its still hard. It's hard to be alone. But helps to talk about it.
@kathi090518, in addition to the helpful information and encouragement from @njed regarding support groups and counseling, I encourage you to look into support groups hosted by local hospices. Most hospices offer bereavement support programs, including grief counseling, to help individuals and families cope with loss, often through one-on-one support, group sessions, and resources. You do not have to have been a patient or client of the hospice to get help in bereavement.
Mayo Hospice has a 6 week grief support program. Next one is in July. Call them 507.284.4002.
Thank you.
