Ongoing bladder cancer stuff
Hi everyone, I haven’t posted in a while because of, I don’t know why. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in May of last year. The doctor tried twice unsuccessfully to laser the tumor out. The tumor was encapsulated in the right ureter so the plan was to remove my right kidney and ureter and take out the tumor at the same time. Theoretically it was successful but immediately after the the surgery, I had a lot of pain in my right testicle and groin and low back pain. Since 11/17, the date of the kidney removal (there’s a long fancy term for kidney removal but I can’t pronounce it). The tumor is indeed gone but the testicle pain is still there and it’s been about 3 months with no relief. The bloodwork is showing my remaining kidney is functioning at about 50%. Poor urine flow, continued pain and another round of bloodwork and the function is down to about 40%. The remaining kidney was functioning well before the surgery but continues to decline with time. I’m frustrated because of the continued pain, difficulty with urinating and I just want to feel good. I see a nephrologist around the end of the month and expect that I’ll be on dialysis sooner rather than later. Does anyone have any thoughts on why the relatively sudden drop in kidney function, the painful testicle or the difficulty urinating? Can anyone make me better? 😉 Thanks for reading and if anyone has the magic solution, call me!!

I would consult other nephrologists and urologists.
Did they do a renal evaluation before they removed your kidney? Well, it’s too late at this point. I agree with jaxfl. Get seen by a good nephrologist as soon as you can. I also had my right kidney and urether removed but have not experienced the issues you are having. Can’t make you feel better, but hopefully the kidney doc will get you on the right track.
Thanks for your response, labs did show my kidney was functioning well prior to the surgery. Thankfully I have an appointment with a nephrologist towards the end of this month.
And I also suggest a PET scan ASAP. It can point out malignancy and/or inflammation.
Hi, I too had kidney removed and had pain in testicle after. Dr told me when kidney is removed they cut something in or around one of your testicles. He said pain there was normal and would clear up in six months which it did . Idk what that is all about. Take care
