Onero exercise and Medicare

I bet if you found a licensed PT who was also trained in the Onera program you could get it covered. This sounds like a long shot though

She is a licensed pt and dpt, super qualified, but says she hasn’t been able to get reimbursements for any of her Onero clients. So the push would have to start from me somehow. I will call my insurance agent for my supplement and see what he says.

Reading this from Maryland. I see one PT licensed and Onero trained here. I think some PT is pd for but not the Onero program. I am hunting to see what is best. Get PT, then Onero just so you are pretty able to make the most from your expense to do Onero?

@blue4birdies Unlike PT which is short term, Onero is ongoing and starts you from where you are. If you need PT for other than OP, do them at the same time. I love the Onero program.

@cobb Medicare does cover the ONERO program providing the PT is ONERO CERTIFIED, and you have a script from your doctor. We Have supplemental insurance so I’m not sure if there is a copay.

@molly4619 - thank you. I liked your answer and will consider this. I have a supplement but like you said it could be paid or excluded. Worth a call.

@molly4619 can you give me any more information? I just spoke with Medicare (800-633-4227) and they have no information about Onero specifically, the PT would have to call and ask about it. Are you on traditional Medicare as I am with medigap addtional coverage? Do you know how it was billed so as to be covered? Any help would be appreciated as I am paying out of pocket for this! Thank you so much.

My next appointment is Monday afternoon. I can try to find out how it is billed. Quite honestly, my primary told me about ONERO, saying that she had just found out about it, and that it is covered by insurance. When I made my first appointment, I asked to make sure it’s covered and they said it was. I do know that the PT must be certified, and you do need a prescription for it. I have traditional Medicare, but my supplementary is my insurance from work. I think if the PT is certified as an ONERO PROVIDER, they would know how to bill. If a PT isn’t certified, I don’t think it would be covered, even though they may be doing the exact same exercises. I’ll ask at the desk on Monday, and I’ll let you know what I find out. Are you sure your PT has the ONERO certification?

Yes, she is as I located her using the Onero website search engine for certified PTs. I really appreciate your feedback and I will talk to her on my next appointment on Thursday. Getting a prescription should not be a problem although my primary is pushing for Evenity! And I have an existing heart issue which could be an issue and issues with bisphosphonates which would be required afterwards! Such fun! I am in San Diego area, where are you?
