30-year old Ileostomy: Anyone had an ileostomy for decades?

I have had my ileostomy for over 30 years. Anyone out there who has had an ileostomy for that many years? And if so, any problems? My stoma looks kind of scuffed. Lost it's outer "membrane" in some areas. Not sure if a stoma has a membrane. It bleeds a bit. Not a lot. Just when I dab at it when cleaning. I need to be more careful when cleaning, maybe.

Hi All!
I’ve had an ileostomy for my entire 63 years 😁 due to birth defects.
When I was 16, I finally got an ilealconduit/urostomy….you could say, I’m an old pro, lol.

My ileostomy has been revised just twice.

I’ve had episodes of periodic excoriation, nothing major. My ileostomy stoma bleeds if not gentle enough with cleaning.

The only major issue I’ve had is actually going on presently…I have a small peristomal hernia and since retiring, I’ve gained some weight, the hernia has enlarged and my stoma has as well…requiring a change in my usual appliances.

Other than that, it’s all good!

@ravna Man, you've got me beat! I'm a mere 24 years (or 39 if you include the j-pouch years)!

It's good to see the long timers here!
