Numbness in right hand

Posted by jfching @jfching, Nov 21, 2023

Hi, is it already neuropathy if you experience slight numbness in the hands and only when it is cold... during normal weather I cannot feel the numbness. Before it was just tingling of the fingers on my right hand. After I controlled by diabetes to down to 6.1 the tingling ceased but was replaced by numbness more often. Thank you

Hi @jfching, I have numbness with my neuropathy but so far it's only in my feet and part of my legs. I've always been labelled with pre-diabetes and only started working on improving my numbers the past 2 years but I think diabetes can cause neuropathy symptoms. Cold weather definitely affects my hands and they can get numb pretty quick but I'm not sure that's associated with my neuropathy. It's good that you have your diabetes under control. Hi! Your subject suggests in your right hand only? Or is it both? I am not a medical person, I also am not pre- or diabetic, but Neuropathy is an animal that treats us all differently and for different reasons, known or unknown. I’ll share with you that my Neuropathy treats me about perfectly symmetrical- I get equal amounts of numbness, tingling, cold, and pain in my left and right extremities at the same time. Have you been to a doctor for nerve tests? I’m just thinking they could maybe check to see if you could have a trapped ulna nerve (like I once had) or if you could be experiencing some carpal tunnel issues. Best wishes, I hope there’s a fix for you!

Thank you so much, I will ask for that soon, yes it is only in one hand, but at times it goes to the left hand though not quite often. also, it just started this year. Previously, it was just tingling (but the tingling was worst in that it really woke me up from sleep). Now, it is just dull numbness, like the hand was asleep (though I can move the hand.) the left and right hand are not feeling numbness at the same time. Doctor told me that this might be neuropathy due to diabetes but as my blood sugar improves, it will take 3 to 6 months for me to feel the lessening effect of the ailment. Hope I can keep my blood sugar at bay to feel the effect, lest if the sugar rises again, I might not see the end of this :). Thank you for commenting

You are foot and part of your leg? Seeing cold feeling? I’m there. Before I’ve had this for the last 11+ years… I’ve have a TBI from my accident bicycle outside. This “problem” hit me left brain that kills my right-side.

I hope you are doing well right now. I guess what we can all do is try to alleviate pain and live with these

Hello! I have neuropathy in both my hands. I can’t feel them. I can be cutting up something and look down to discover my hands are bleeding. I got stitches three times in less than two weeks. The doctor accused me of trying to kill myself. I told him you can’t kill yourself cutting a finger. I told the doctor not to numb my finger when he stitched it up since I could not feel it. I had an EMG and nerve conduction test done on my hand showing the neuropathy. I no longer have any reflexes in the bend of my arm. I also have severe nerve pain in my hand that disfigures my fingers when my hand cramps up. I cry and my husband rubs my palm and fingers trying to the muscle spams out. Soma muscle relaxer works best for me. Bacoflin makes me feel like I have the flu, fexeril does nothing for me and skelexain works on my back. I have neuropathy in my back. They don’t tell you it gets all over your body.

I have neuropathy in both feet and on 3 fingers of one hand from chemo. After 2 years, I've started having more feeling in my whole hand.

I have been doing chemo for the last 6 months and my nueropathy has only really impacted my left hand and some mild tingling in my feet. Nothing in my right hand.
