Nothing to mess with
For those of you who have read my verbose comments and posts this past week and have offered me your words of support and understanding, as well as your personal experiences, I thank you, most sincerely!
I decided today to start another discussion in the Cancer group with a few thoughts since my husband is, this afternoon, talking with a surgical oncologist at the Pancreas Prevention Clinic here with our local healthcare provider. Things, we've heard from his primary care provider and in the radiologist's notes from his recent MRCP scan, are "stable". I decided not to go with him. I'm finding it better for us both if I leave some of the discussions are held between he and his doctors..
But I thought our brush with cancer may be better shared/more completely shared in the Cancer group on this forum. If you have interest, check it out . . . otherwise, scroll past.
Love to all,
Dawn

Thanks twinnie, @sillyblone!!!
Good news today. Watch for a comment tomorrow morning. I tried to post one earlier this afternoon but the powers that be wouldn't allow it. I must have hit some sort of limit or something today. 🤔

My private messaging still won't allow me to send private messages so I decided to just post a general message to let those who have contacted me and knew that my husband had an appointment yesterday with the Pancreatic Cancer Prevention clinic, what he was told. I didn't go for the reasons I posted earlier. BUT, he said it went very well. He met with one of their surgical oncologists who told him that she met with the rest of their "Board" and they all agreed that my husband's scans did not show any signs of cancer this year; so . . . YAY!!!!
He also said that they agreed he should continue to go in for yearly scans and that when/if the IPMN on his pancreas reaches 2 cm., they will do a biopsy here at the local level. It's measured right now at 1.5 x 1.7 cm., so along with the yearly MRCP scans they are planning on running here, the doctor ordered a Ca 19-9 pancreatic cancer marker blood test today for him and repeat that test every 6 months. She also told him that with his cancer history and with his family's history of cancer, they want him to complete genetic testing. So, once he turns in the paperwork, they will be running that for us. We have two daughters and one grandchild; so, largely for his sake but also for the sake of our kids . . . they want that done.
All in all . . . a good visit. We/they will be doing everything that can be done at this point to monitor things the best that they/we can.
Whewwww! Cross that off our wish list. Looks like, too, that if/when that stupid cyst reaches 3 cm., they will remove it.
Next on our agenda/wish list will be that when we do the televisit with his nephrologist at the Mayo Clinic for his kidney disease next week, we're hoping she'll refer us to a local lab for the future results she needs to keep tabs on the MGN kidney disease, either by yearly in-person visits or regular televisits to spare us the 3-hour trip, each way, to Rochester. We don't mind taking that road trip if we need to but since my husband seems to be holding his own with that part of our challenges . . . . there's no reason we can justify to drive that far for only lab tests if we can find a lab here that will cooperate with her ordering them. So far, here, we've run into too many issues in trying to get that done.
I guess that's it for now.
Just wanted to send the latest info out there.
Thanks for caring!

4 Reactions@suppiskey2surv Always! I will pray for you and your spouse that the lab work can be done closer to your home. Mayo has always wanted in person labs . But just maybe you can be the exception. It is not just Mayo , lots of hospitals want the labs from there perferred outpt. places. Believe me when I say we have of lot of hospitals in our area. All have their prefences. Take care and look forward to your update. 🫂💕🙏

2 Reactions@suppiskey2surv I'm so happy you scored a win! After everything you've been through I'm sure there were so many moments that made you doubt if you'd ever score one again. So glad to hear that! My wife and I are very fortunate that we live 30 min from the Jacksonville, FL Mayo location so I don't have any experience with the third party lab situation but. I hope you are able to figure out a solution. Congratulations on the good news!

Thank you, my friend! Now, if only we can find that lab. You're lucky to be as close as you are to the MAYO down there in FL. My brother and his wife live in Jacksonville. So they, too, are lucky in that regard as well.
