Nose sore that never goes away
I have a sore in one nostril that I believe was due to sinus issues that I got about 5 years ago. I hate scabs so of course I picked it out every time I got the chance. It would never heal, wonder why, LOL. However even if I could keep from picking it out for a few days it would dry up and I would blow my nose and out it flew and then it bled and grew again. Now it has gotten to the point where there is a hole in the skin between my nasal passages that has developed which now when I breathe sounds like a whistle, LOL. I know I should have gone to the doctor but currently I have no insurance and don't know what to do. I tried rinsing it with salt water, alcohol, witch hazel, antibiotic ointment and I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?

Hello @sherri1968, Welcome to Connect. Yikes! It sounds like you may have a perforated septum. @calliederoussan also posted about a perforated septum in another discussion and may have some thoughts or suggestions to share with you. I also found this article that might provide some suggestions that are helpful.

Also, since you mentioned you don't have health care insurance, do you think it might be an option to check to see if you can get low-cost health care?

Hi Sherril1968!
I have the same problem with my nose that you do. I get a scab which I don't like in my nose either. It bleeds also. I did see a doctor and he prescribed Mupirocin ointment USP 2%. It works wonderfully! It cures the scab and it goes away. However, if I get near a lot of pollution like a parking garage or cold weather, it returns. I use the ointment again and it clears up. I've had this problem for at least 50 years, but it's manageable. If you could get to a doctor and get this prescribed, it would help your nose a lot! Good luck! I'll say a prayer for you.

Thank you so much. I will definitely ask my dr. to call it in and try it.
Thank you for the prayers also. God bless.

Hello John,
I will definitely take a look at that and I don't qualify for low cost insurance. I am hoping to be able to afford it next year. Thank you so much for your reply. Take care.
